Allison's Cosmetics Photo Shoot

Happy new year! Well, it's certainly been a busy and interesting couple of months as I've focused on projects outside of my photography, but let's start 2011 off right! Recently I did a shoot for up and coming model Allison, who needed a headshot to enter a model competition hosted by Motives Cosmetics. Many thanks also to Celeste of Deluxe MUA, who is our amazing makeup artist.

Sheryl Marie at Art Institute San Francisco

A few weeks ago I did a photoshoot for my lovely friend Sheryl Marie of Pure Blendz. I said I'd post these by the end of the month, so here's the best of the rest! I also wanted to give a shout out to fellow jack-of-many trades Erica, who's not only the hairdresser, but also an amazing stylist, lighting assistant, and location scout. She got us into the Art Institute in San Francisco, which provided wonderful natural light for the first group of photos, and a great red-colored wall next to a series of Warhol-inspired paintings by art students.

Fashion for a Cause

Last Friday I took some photos at Fashion for a Cause, a fashion show fundraising event benefiting Project Fit America. We packed the Horizon Lounge in San Francisco! Fashion designers being showcased were Intwined and Kitami Ropa and makeup services were provided by Pure Blendz.

There were also gogo dancers!

And guess who else was there? It's James Kyson Lee, also known as Ando from Heroes!

Photo Previews!

Time sure is flying! As we're nearing the last week of October, I just wanted to post a couple of previews from some recent gigs. Last week, I did a shoot with my friend Sheryl, who owns her own makeup business and of course, does her own modeling as well. Those photos turned out pretty awesome and I'll have more through the touch-up process hopefully by the end of the month. Also, my friend (and former coworker) is now a coach for a high school girl's volleyball team. She asked me to shoot some of their games, and while admittedly I'm not well-equipped for sports photography, I think I still came away with a few good shots last night. Stay tuned for more; I'm going to try for more frequent updates!

Micah and Ivy

I've been doing some more photography! Here's Micah and Ivy, some good friends of mine. Although they've been married for several years, they've never taken engagement photos. With a baby on the way, the couple thought this would be a good time to commemorate their time together. We went just down the road to the historic Niles district of our city, Fremont, for this shoot!

Tony and Lori's Wedding in Livermore, CA

I went to two weddings in one week! The first one was for my good friend Tony who I've known since junior high and high school. I wasn't the official photographer (as I'd prefer to enjoy myself at my friends' weddings) but of course I had to snap a couple shots. I hope I didn't get in anyone's way! Anyway, congratulations you crazy kids!

Also, I just wanted to say that I'm pretty sure the cupcakes were done by Cupkates, and if you get see their truck around the Bay, get one. They're awesome.

I was at the Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle last weekend when I came across a couple of models from the Tazti booth taking a break in the courtyard, so we made it an impromptu photoshoot! They are dressed up as elves, and Heather in particular is cosplaying as Tinkerbella from the web series "The Guild."

Jerry is a professional cosplayer and she makes all her own costumes, including her own invented elf girl here. See more at Jerry Polence's blog.
